Ask a general chatbot “why isn’t my weight moving?” and you get a good generic answer: check portions, watch liquid calories, be patient. It has no way to give you anything else, because it has never seen what you eat.
Fitto Coach starts from the other end. Before it answers, it reads your log. That is the whole idea, and it is why the coach lives inside a calorie tracker rather than in a separate chat app.
What it knows before you type
Each time you send a message, the coach is given a short summary of your situation:
- Your targets. Daily calories, macros, your goal (lose, maintain or gain) and your target weight.
- What you have actually eaten. Today’s meals, the last 14 days in summary, and the foods that show up most often.
- Your body data. Weigh-ins and, once you have at least 4 of them spread over 10 days or more, a weight trend.
- Your progress. Streak, level and badges, the same things the app shows you.
- Your preferences. Diet, allergies, dislikes, cuisines, cooking time, budget, equipment, what is in your pantry, and anything you’ve asked it to remember.
So “what should I eat tonight?” gets an answer that knows you’ve had 40 g of protein so far, that you don’t eat mushrooms, and that you usually cook in under 20 minutes.
The question it is best at
“Why isn’t my weight moving?” is the question most trackers leave you alone with. With enough weigh-ins, Fitto can compare what you logged with how your weight actually moved, and estimate the maintenance calories your body is showing rather than the one a formula assumed. The coach can then explain the gap in plain terms.
When the gap points to unlogged food, it says so directly. It does not tell you to eat less to close a gap your log can’t see. Weight changes are described neutrally, as data, and it never praises you for eating under your target.
What it can do
The coach is connected to the rest of the app, so it can do things as well as answer:
- Meal plans. A day or a week, fitted to your calorie and macro targets, your preferences and your allergies. The numbers are recalculated in code after the AI writes them, each day is scaled onto your target, and every ingredient is checked against your allergies. If a plan can’t avoid an allergen, it is refused and the credit refunded.
- Grocery lists. Built from the plan’s ingredients, merged and rounded up to amounts you can buy, with staples and pantry items set apart. Share the list to your notes or messages.
- Next-meal suggestions. The meal your plan has for this slot, or a meal you already eat scaled to what is left of your day.
- Logging from the chat. Describe a meal, say it, or send a photo. The coach drafts the entry and you review it on the usual confirm screen. Nothing goes into your diary unseen.
- Lighter versions of a meal you’ve logged. How those are chosen.
- Remembering things. “I’m travelling until Friday” is stored with an end date, and the coach stops mentioning gaps in your log until then. Lasting things (“I train on Tuesdays”) stay in its memory, which you can read and edit.
If you log at least a few days in a week, the coach also leaves a short check-in on Monday morning about how the week went.
Plans that notice when you follow them
You don’t have to tick meals off a plan. When you log something that matches a planned meal for that time of day, Fitto links them and the meal shows an On plan badge. If a match is wrong, “Not this meal” undoes it for good. Adherence is counted in meals followed, never in calories, so eating more than planned never counts against you. If you keep skipping one slot, the next plan keeps that slot simpler.
What it costs
Chatting is free, up to 40 messages a day. The coach’s actions cost what they cost anywhere else in Fitto:
| Action | Cost |
|---|---|
| Asking questions, advice, check-ins | Free |
| Generating a meal plan | 1 credit |
| Turning a described or photographed meal into a log | 1 credit |
| A new set of lighter versions | 1 credit (free if already made for that meal) |
| Grocery list, swapping one planned meal, logging a planned meal | Free |
A message can trigger at most one paid action, and a failed action is refunded. Credits come from the same one-time packs as scans; there is still no subscription.
What it won’t do
- Medical advice. It won’t diagnose or advise on medication. For a medical condition it keeps to general context and recommends a doctor or registered dietitian.
- Push restriction. If a conversation suggests disordered eating, the coach responds with care, won’t give a plan or calorie advice, and points you to professional help. Plans also have a calorie floor they can’t go below.
- Invent numbers. Everything you see on a plan, a meal card or a grocery list came from the app’s own calculations, not from the chat text.
What it sends, and where
To answer, the coach sends your message and the summary above to Google’s Gemini AI service. Your email and account details are not part of it. The privacy policy lists what is sent for each feature, and the coach’s profile screen shows everything it has stored about you, all of it editable or removable.
Fitto AI provides estimates for general wellness and is not medical advice.
