What is free in Fitto AI
- The app. Free to download, with no ads.
- Food search (Android now, iPhone in the next update). Search 10,000+ foods, pick a portion and log calories and macros, with no credits and no daily limit. Build a meal from several foods, or type one in yourself if it isn't listed. How it works: logging meals with no credits.
- Barcode scanning. Scan any packaged food as often as you like. It never uses a credit.
- Your first 5 AI scans. Photo, voice or typed, for every new account. No card is needed.
- Favourite meals. Star a meal you eat often and log it again later without a credit.
- Editing. Change a portion, add a missed item or delete a meal at no cost.
- Correcting a photo. If a photo is misread, you can correct it by text or voice up to 2 times without paying again.
- Coach chat. Ask the AI coach about your log, up to 40 messages a day.
- Targets, history, weekly trends, weight tracking, streaks, badges and leaderboards.
What costs credits
Anything that sends a meal to the AI for analysis: a photo scan, a voice description or a typed description uses 1 credit. So does a generated meal plan or a new set of lighter versions of a meal. If an analysis fails, you get the credit back.
Credits come in one-time packs: 50 for $1.99, 150 for $2.99, 500 for $5.99. The 500-credit pack works out at about 1.2¢ a scan. See pricing for details.
Earning more free scans
You can earn scans by using the app, without buying anything:
- 3 credits once, for turning on notifications.
- 3, 10 and 25 credits at 7, 30 and 100-day logging streaks. A day counts when you log anything, whatever you ate.
- 5 credits if you join with a friend's invite code, and 5 for them once you log your first meal.
A free calorie tracker with a barcode scanner
Packaged food is the easy case, and in Fitto it is free. Scan the barcode, check the serving, and log it. The nutrition comes from the product's label data in Open Food Facts, when the product is listed there. Use your AI scans for the meals that have no barcode, like home cooking, restaurant plates and takeout.

Fitto's food search is deliberately small: 10,000+ generic foods and 183 Indian dishes, no brands. If you want to pick exact branded products from millions of entries, a large database app's free tier will suit you better. Fitto is for people who want to search the everyday foods for free and photograph the meals that would take ten searches, without a subscription. You can see the full comparison on the compare page. On Android, see the best AI calorie tracker apps for Android, with what each one gives for free.
Who it suits
- People who track in bursts. Credits never expire, so a month off costs nothing.
- People who eat a lot of packaged food, because barcode scans are free.
- People who eat out. A photo works on dishes that are not in any database.
- Anyone tired of subscriptions. Nothing renews. Read more about calorie tracking without a subscription.
